About us

Welcome to the new racing website which for obvious reasons we have chosen to call "Lafferty and Lips." While one of the primary functions of this will be to provide up-to-date selections and permutations on a subscription basis for all South African race meetings (except Kimberley), we
intend to be a good deal more than just a tipping service. We aim to make this an all round racing
site, with snippets of racing news, ante-post betting and other features aimed at keeping you abreast
of whats happening in the world of South African Racing. We would like to believe that we are well qualified for the job.

Matthew Lips, known to readers of Winning Form as "Magic Lips" and to Supertrack viewers as the "Oracle", has been tipping in Winning Form since 1988 and has been part of the editorial staff of Sporting Post since the twice weekly newspapers inception in 1994. He is twice winner of the champion punters competition, and is regularly seen on Supertrack from Kwazulu-Natal race meetings especially. He is a self confessed racing nut, owns shares in numerous racehorses, and is a small scale breeder. A keen follower of racing throughout South Africa with an interest in what goes on overseas as well, he is avid about all aspects of the thoroughbred industry and believes a cancelled race meeting to be only a slightly smaller disaster than an earthquake or the plague.

Paul Lafferty is a racehorse trainer based at Summerveld in Kwazulu-Natal with a thriving satelite operation in Port Elizabeth. He is another for whom a day without racing is a day wasted and follows the sport avidly in all parts of South Africa. He is well acquainted with just about everybody who matters in racing and takes a very real interest in racing from abroad through the internet and subscribes to a variety of international journals. His first question to a taxi driver when in a foreign city is "where is your nearest racecourse". Paul is Kwazulu-Natals primary resident on-course television presenter and is known for his straight talking, no nonsense approach. He reckons that the internet is the worlds greatest invention since horse racing. We hope and think that you will agree.
